There are many techniques and strategies that can be used to improve focus, such as goal-setting, creating a distraction-free environment, taking breaks, practicing mindfulness, exercising, getting enough sleep, avoiding multitasking, and staying hydrated.
One of the main reasons that people procrastinate and fail to take action on their goals is that they feel they must be perfect. There’s no such thing. Self criticism is good in the journey to achieving your goals but you cannot use it as a road block.

Improving your focus can be a challenge, especially in today’s world where we are constantly bombarded with distractions. And as technology changes the distractions are becoming more as we also have to put time aside to connect with the world through technology.
Having a clear idea of what you want to achieve can help you stay focused. Write down your goals and prioritize them. This will help you stay on track and avoid distractions. Realize sometimes a change in a different direction or perspective that you haven’t anticipated is key in achieving your goal. Fighting against it can cause you to lose focus.
Find a quiet and comfortable space to work. Eliminate as many distractions as possible, such as turning off your phone, TV or closing unnecessary tabs on your computer. Get chores like walking the dog, paying bills or running errands out of the way before you start to focus because when the juice starts flowing you won’t need to stop.
Taking regular breaks can help you stay focused for longer periods of time. After 25-30 minutes get up and walk away and change direction for 5-10 minutes. These little breaks throughout the project can restimulate you through the day.
Mindfulness meditation can help you improve your focus and concentration. Take a few minutes each day to sit quietly and focus on your breath.
Regular exercise can help improve your focus and concentration. Exercise releases endorphins, which can help reduce stress and increase focus. Exercise doesn’t necessarily mean, join a gym or purchase exercise equipment. A long walk, sit-ups, pushups or housework will also do the trick.
Lack of sleep can affect your focus and concentration. Even though there are times that we are putting in the extra hours focusing on our goals and losing sleep in order to do it. You need to in make sure you are getting enough sleep each night. Don’t use pharmaceuticals to fall asleep and wake up. It will destroy you in the end.
Multitasking has become a popular term in our society in the past thirty plus years, however it can actually decrease productivity and make it harder to focus. Instead, focus on one task at a time and give it your full attention.
Dehydration can affect your ability to focus. Make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day. In the same vein, you must make sure you are eating and eating healthy. Bad food can cloud one’s mind and create brain fog.
By implementing these changes in your behavior, you can improve your ability to focus and be more productive.
